Brand strategy that gets specific enough to be useful.

Through a mix of research, strategy, messaging, and practical planning, I create a shared understanding of where the brand stands, what makes it different, and how that should guide the words, ideas, experiences, and decisions that follow.

01

Primary & Secondary Research

I work to understand the brand from more than one angle: what leadership believes, what customers or partners experience, where the category is going, and what competitors are saying. The point is not to collect research for its own sake. It is to correlate and focus the collected facts and insights towards new places for the brand to thrive.

02

Internal Brand Strategy

Once the picture is clearer, I shape the brand foundation into something highly relevant to the audience & category, distinctive over the competition, unique to the brand, and ultimately built for action and use.

03

External Brand Expression

Strategy becomes more useful when it starts sounding like something. I translate the foundation into core brand messaging, persona and product messaging, tone & personality definitions, voice standards, and the like so the brand has a recognizable way to speak across real moments.

04

Brand Engagement Strategy

This is where the strategy starts pointing toward action. Together, we identify brand, creative, content, culture, and technology initiatives that connect what the audience needs with what the business is ready to build, improve, or say next.

05

Brand Direction & Management

Brands always evolve and adapt to new realities. I guide the ongoing direction and stay involved as the work moves towards campaigns, content, sales materials, websites, and everyday decisions, so the strategy stays consistent without becoming rigid.

How the work takes shape

A proven formula, applied to each client’s unique goals.

Learning & Synthesis

We start by getting oriented together. We use kickoff conversations, stakeholder or customer interviews, employee input, competitive and category reviews, and synthesis to identify the themes that matter. I like this phase to feel clarifying, not academic.

Strategic Foundation

The learning then becomes a set of choices: who the brand serves, what tension it solves, what it says that others cannot, and why people should believe it.

Expression & Activation

From there, I translate the strategy into language, guidance, and next moves: core messaging, persona or product messaging, voice direction, website or content guidance, initiative ideas, and a brand brief that keeps the work moving.

One thing I try to avoid: strategy that sounds impressive but does not help anyone make a decision. The goal is to leave with language, logic, and direction that can not only survive but thrive.

How it usually feels

Collaborative, candid, and built around the decision you actually need to make.

Some projects need a full brand foundation. Others need sharper messaging, a clearer campaign direction, or an outside perspective that can connect many moving parts. I like work sessions where the team can react, debate, prioritize, and sharpen the direction together, because the best strategy is not just well written. It is understood, owned, and used.
